This statuette of a stylized female anatomy is intended as practical reference tool for 3D modelers, illustrators and animators.
Each cast is 12 inches tall (30 centimeters, 1:6 scale). The design was digitally sculpted using Zbrush and Mudbox and later 3D-printed, molded, and cast in polystone, a mix of polymer resin and minerals.
The body is presented in typical vitruvian T-pose as is preferable for CG modeling.
One half is rendered in a smooth finish with an emphasis on stylization and surface continuity ; the other half shows a grid network suited for CG modeling and animation.
These statuettes were released in two versions : greyscale V1 (12 units) and colored V2 (24 units).
The physical production of these two series (3D-printing of the initial master, post production to accommodate assembly with magnets, creation of the production molds, casting in polystone, and painting in the case of V2) was taken care of by Ownage Studios. Their team was fantastic to work with and I especially appreciated the back and forth to nail the finer details of the paint job.
Seeing these statues on the desks and in the display cases of artists and colleagues I admire is a feeling like no other. They are sold out now, but I would love to produce another run in the future, perhaps with another visual treatment. Please check back here for updates.
